Laticrete Sponsorship Increases Purse for Lee Port City 100
Lee, NH -- Drivers from throughout the northeast will converge on Lee
USA Speedway, Lee, NH., Friday night July 9, when the Modified Racing
Series, sponsored by BobValentiAutoMall.com, heads for the New
Hampshire seacoast to compete in the 7th annual “Port City 100”
sponsored by Laticrete.
The race is drawing widespread interest from both competitors and fans alike.
Drivers will compete for $3,000 to win and $500 to start the 100 lap
green flag race while fans will also benefit by a special admittance
price of only $15 for general admission seating. The speedways weekly
NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions will also be on the
schedule.
Windsor Locks, CT., veteran Les Hinckley, currently in a point’s battle
for the series championship, appreciates the Laticrete involvement.
“The more money the better. That's what you go to the racetrack for is
to put more money back into the race car. The extra money puts more
prestige into it. Winning is the ultimate goal.”
In addition to the title sponsor, avid modified race fans, Jim Schaefer
and Chris Buchman, have contributed an additional $1,150 to the
driver’s earnings. "People putting money up means a lot too. Every
dollar means something to somebody so naturally it means more and you
have appreciation for the people that are doing it,” said Hinckley.
The Lee race is a favorite stop on the 19 race tour for the 13-time
series winner who already has visited victory lane this year at
Plattsburgh, NY, and Thompson. CT.
"Lee is a fun place. It's in the middle of the summer. Red (MacDonald)
puts on a good show. He's good people. We've been there in bad weather
and he's walked down the center of pit road with I don't know how many
pizza boxes to hand out to all of us to thank us for coming. We have
gotten personal notes written by him in our checks for non-sanctioned
races that we went too in years past. "They always appreciate us being
there and we love going there. Plus you get out of work early on
Friday.”
In addition to Hinckley, former series champions, Kirk Alexander,
Swanzey, NH., Dwight Jarvis, Ascutney, VT., Chris Pasteryak, Jewett
City, CT., and Jonathan McKennedy, E.Chelmsford, Mass., are entering
the race.
Defending “Port City 100” winner Jimmy Kuhn. W.Bridgewater, MA., Doug
Coby, Milford,CT., Jack Bateman, Canaan, NH., Rowan Pennink,
Huntingdon, Valley, PA., local drivers, Andy Seuss, Hampstead, NH., and
Mike Ordway, Jr, Fremont, NH., and Louie Mechalides, Tygnsboro, MA.,are
also ready for the Lee race.
The race program starts at 7:00 PM. Lee USA Speedway is located on Rte 125, Lee, NH.
