Modified Racing Series Attends Champlain Valley Show

Plattsburgh, NY - - With Airborne Speedway, Plattsburgh, (NY)., preparing for it’s 58th season, Modified Racing Series president and founder Jack Bateman hit the highway this past weekend in an effort to help promote his series first ever appearance at the famed racing facility. The inaugural event will take place Saturday, May 29.

Bateman took part in the regions annual Champlain Valley Motorsports Show, at Plattsburgh’s Crete Memorial Civic Center, a two day event.

Over 75 race cars, street rods, go-karts and classic cars were on display including the #17 JRB Transportation modified driven by Bateman, now in his 44th season. Bateman saw the show as a golden opportunity to promote the series in a region that has not seen open wheel modified racing for many years. He had the Plattsburgh show on his calendar for awhile.

“My plan was to support the show if we came out of Waterford okay and we did. We try to make as many of these shows as possible. It creates interest, it’s important to support the tracks, that's what this trip was all about. Based on everything we heard, the fans in that region are looking forward to our visit May 29th."

Bateman, at the request of track promoter Mike Perrotte, visited the Airborne facility enroute to the motorsports show. Perrotte was eager to see an asphalt modified turn a few laps. Despite only a dozen or so circuits, the result only added to the excitement of the upcoming inaugural MRS event.

"I really appreciate Jack taking the time to be a part of our weekend up here. The car looked really good on the track. A few quick laps showed times equivalent too the dirt mods that run here. I can say there is nobody more excited than me to see the mods back at Airborne.”

“There was allot of excitement around Jack's car at the show and I had countless people telling me how much they are looking forward to seeing the Modified Racing Series at Airborne in 2010,” Perrotte concluded.

Airborne Speedway, Plattsburg, (NY) will host the Modified Racing Series, sponsored by Bob Valenti AutoMall.Com, on Saturday May 29th along with the Thunder Road International Speedbowl, Barre, (VT), on Sunday May 30. as part of a double-header two-day Memorial Day weekend program.
