By Kevin Boucher
This Saturday night, June 13, the True Value Modified
Racing Series will invade Seekonk Speedway, Rte 6,
Seekonk, MA., for the “Connecticut Laborers Union 100.”
This will be the first of three visits to Seekonk for the
TVMRS in 2009
Since their first ever race on October 3, 2004, the True
Value Modifieds have competed in 11 events at Seekonk.. In
those events, there have been seven different winners at
the historic oval, including reigning True Value Modified
Champion Chris Pasteryak, The Lisbon, CT., racer picked up
his first Seekonk win in October, 2008 at the DAV Fall
Classic. The last driver to win back to back races was
six- time Seekonk Champion Vinnie Annarummo, who picked up
three out or four from June 2007 to June, 2008. Les
Hinckley, who won the first ever appearance for the tour
notching the 2004 DAV Fall Classic, and three - time True
Value Mod Champ Kirk Alexander are the only other drivers
with more than one victory at The Cement Palace. Andy
Seuss, Lou Mechalides, and Dave Berghman have also visited
Seekonk’s Victory Lane.
This week Bobby Grigas, of Marshfield, MA., a former TVMRS
regular, entered Saturday nights race. He’ll be joined by
veteran Jimmy Kuhn, W.Bridgewater, MA, and Tommy Cravenho,
Raynham, MA, who will drive for long time car owner Joe

With other regional modified tours idle, there is the
possibility that some of their regular competitors may try
and compete in the Connecticut Laborers Union 100, as a
possible tune up for the 5th Annual Open Wheel Wednesday
on July 15, 2009. The $10,000 to win event draws the best
from the Northeast in a non-sanctioned, high paying
shootout.
Seekonk Speedway’s Late Models, Seekonk Sport Trucks and
Street Stocks will also be on the card for June 13. The
Pro Stocks will be off on this night. Front gates open at
4pm, with the first green flag at 6pm. Adult admission in
